Cylinder Head Installation Caution for 2018-2022 Toyota 2.5L A25A Engines

The AERA Technical Committee offers the following information on a cylinder head installation caution for 2018-2022 Toyota 2.5L A25A engines. This engine is currently used in the manufacturers popular Camry, Avalon, and RAV4 vehicles.
This engine uses ten head bolts and there are two different lengths to locate. The length difference is only .3937” (10.000 MM) so close attention is needed to locate the bolts in their proper locations. See the diagram below noting the shorter A bolts go in the corner locations of the head.

Upper Engine Oil Leak on 2006-2010 Honda 2.4L K24 Engines

The AERA Technical Committee offers the following information on an upper engine oil leak for 2006-2010 Honda 2.4L K24 engines. This leak is slow but can accumulate over time and has prompted customer complaints.
Apparently, some engines were affected by paint overspray during manufacturing of the cylinder head cover. To resolve this oil leaking condition the valve cover can be removed and a sanding process to remove the extra paint spray should be done.

High-Performance Cylinder Sealing

BY DAVE FUSSNER

Cylinder sealing is affected by each component in the cylinder kit. The piston and rings are of course major players in achieving optimal cylinder sealing, along with cylinder bore geometry and honing finish.
For this discussion, we will be concentrating on the influence the piston and ring groove has to cylinder sealing in high performance applications.
Blow-by gas leakage past piston rings will follow the path of least resistance and without preference. It is often assumed that if an engine has excessive blow-by, the gas leakage is predominately occurring between the outside peripheral surface of the ring and the cylinder bore.
