Ford 6.0L High-Pressure Oiling System

By Brian Roberts

The Ford 6.0L Power Stroke engine relies on a high-pressure oil system to fire the fuel injectors. People may experience a no start situation with these engines and the high-pressure oil system

could be a cause for that. In this article we will explain how it functions and common areas to look at when a no start situation occurs. The system is comprised of multiple components, many of which you may be unfamiliar with.

The oil circulates through the system by means of a pump which is monitored and controlled by the IPR, ICP and FICM. The oil then flows to the branch tube which connects to the oil feed pipes (both banks). The oil feed pipe delivers the oil to the oil rails which contain individual nipples that connect to the individual injectors. All these components need to function

properly for the fuel injector to open and deliver fuel for combustion.
